Thu 7 Jan 2016 Travel to Queenstown

Summary:
We slept in and left Wanaka at 10 am heading to Queenstown. On the way, we detoured through Arrowtown, a quaint gold mining tourist town. There were lots of old buildings that had been restored, and the main street was bustling with people. Along the winding country roads, we past meadows of colourful wild lupins. They were gorgeous!

Wild Lupins
Upon arrival at Queenstown, MK was hungry (as usual) and we had to find a food court first. After that, we went on the gondola to the top of Bob's Peak, which has amazing views of Lake Wakatipu and across to the Remarkables mountain range. We then went on the luge, which is a little cart that goes on a downhill track. It was really fun as we banked around the sharp bends and sped past each other (this is the only advantage of being heavy - gravity pulls you downhill much faster!).

We then checked into our accommodation and found our lovely unit with 2 bedrooms upstairs and waterfront views.
