We traveled from Franz Josef to Wanaka - about 4 hours. On the way through, we stopped by Thunder Creek Falls and Fantail Falls. The boys had a great time as the river bed at Fantail Falls was lined by rocks, a lot of them the prefect shape to skim across the clear and cold stream. We spent some time skimming the rocks, MK and MJ were very good, and MK could get them quite far out!

After that we stopped by Blue Pools - the colour of the water was a serene aqua - crystal clear. There were people jumping off the bridge (over 10 metres high) into the freezing water!
When we arrived at Wanaka in the afternoon, we met up with MH's school friend, Aidan, and went to Puzzling World. The maze was fun and also frustrating but we managed to get out before dehydrating! Then we explored the illusion rooms inside. It's quite fascinating the collection of visual tricks they have. The cafe tables were littered with all sorts of puzzles, so we spent some time there working them out.We then went over Aidan's grandparents' home for dinner. Aidan's family was most hospitable (as are all Kiwis we've met.)
